A few months later, the artist Theo Richter played the track in his studio. Without any prior discussion, concept or brief, this painting emerged.
He ended up calling the painting „Lost in Paradise“ as well.
I am impressed by how strongly it takes up the inner movement of the piece without merely illustrating it. Water, bridges, boats, stairways, passages and portals appear. There are layers where everything is in flow and others where something seems to gather, slow down or become denser.
I do not know exactly what was happening inside the artist while he was working, but to me it feels like a visual extension of the track. It has its own decisions, its own breaks and its own language, almost like the B-side of an album.
I like the idea that Lost in Paradise can not only be heard but also seen. Maybe, as you listen and look at the painting, you will notice new facets or perspectives.
Thank you, Theo, for letting my music flow into your work. For me it is fascinating to see how the track takes shape in lines, colours and surfaces.
And maybe, over time, more images, movements or stories will grow out of one of my tracks. If you like, feel free to share them with me.
